The Assaf Discovery Collection 10ml set is the darker, more Arabian half of what the house makes, compressed into eight travel bottles. Where the 25ml set leans floral and fresh, this one is built around bakhoor and oud. Wild Colt Bakhur and Oud Bakhur anchor it with the smoky resinous character that most Gulf collections are judged on, Arrogate Addict and Arrogate Pink Rose bring the rosy and the sweeter side, and Lipstick, Attax and Risk fill in the amber, woody and gourmand gaps. Eighty millilitres in total across eight bottles, in a presentation box that does not look like a sampler. Assaf built the New Era line to be a step up from its earlier work, and this is the cheapest way to find out whether it worked.
